Discipline Makes the Magic – June 16 ESDaily Gameplan
How Disney’s discipline and precision mirror the mindset required to trade with an edge.
Monday June 16, 2025
Since Friday, I’ve been in Orlando, FL, celebrating Father’s Day with the family.
Naturally, we did the Disney thing.
My kids were in awe—lit up by every character that walked by like they were meeting royalty.
But while they were falling in love with the fantasy, I was watching the machine behind it.
Disney is absurdly good at what they do.
The crowds are endless. The money flows nonstop. And the experience, for better or worse, runs on rails.
And if anecdotes are telling—unless you had one of those private, VIP packages—you were in line.
For hours. Many hours.
Yet somehow, Dad shells out $5,000 for a weekend, waits in line 3 hours at a time, buys a $15 churro, grabs a pair of Mickey ears—and still walks away saying, “Totally worth it.”
That’s not just brand magic. That’s operational dominance.
Every step of that experience—from line flow to snack carts to character photo ops—is engineered. Not left to chance.
Disney doesn’t wing it. They script it, choreograph it, repeat it, scale it.
This is how trading works, too.
Not the crowds or the spectacle—the discipline. The choreography.
The system. The scripts. The unwavering commitment to the plan.
Disney doesn’t reinvent itself every day.
It does the same things—over and over—with world-class precision.
And that’s what makes the experience feel magical.
The end result?
Disney is a world-class business that’s perfected experiences.
I’ve held Disney stock for many years—bought my first share back when I was still figuring out where the buy button was 😂
And over time, Disney has shown up in the market, too:
2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 — all years it outperformed the S&P 500.
Then came COVID, which crushed capital efficiency and hammered the parks.
More recently, they’ve had CEO drama and streaming missteps.
But even still—you can see the consistency.
I’m not here to tout Disney stock, my point is the business is world class. And it’s accomplished by doing what works.
Every
Single
Day
The power of compounding a repeatable, predictable system….
That’s what I care about—
Structure. Repeatability. The long game.
We’re clawing back some of the loss from the divergence breakdown late last week. Everything kinda looks fragile here. Lower highs, lower lows, RSI oscillating, momentum shifting hands every few hours. A direction signal is coming soon.
One of the things I look at frequently are the size and color of the impulse candles over the last few sessions. Open an hour chart and look back a week.
There’s a lot of red impulses matched with green corrections. Let’s see if that continues into Monday. Another impulse for bears puts a lot of structure in jeopardy….
Let’s get into today’s levels.
Couple Housekeeping Notes:
-I will be on vacation from Friday afternoon through Monday evening. I will be spending Father’s day traveling with my wife and kids. I still plan to get the most important levels I’m watching out to you in timely fashion. To all the dads out there, I hope you have an amazing Father’s Day. You’re awesome.
-The Trade Review Section will be updated each Monday, starting June 23rd. You’ll start to see all my trade reviews since the change in newsletter format start to populate in there next week.
-ES is rolling over from June to September. Due to being out of town, levels posted will be in ESM25. There’s still plenty of volume on ESM25.
- Trading in the chat has been a lot of fun and it allows me to get quicker ideas out as price comes into our areas. If you’ve not been inside, come say Hi. I’ve seen some great trades from others in there as well!
