Momentum Without Fear – The Discipline of Continuation
Back in action after being away for a week, and the timing couldn’t be better.
Last week delivered the cleanest structural breakout we’ve seen all month. After spending nearly two weeks in rotational compression, the market finally found its footing and resolved higher in a steady, structured expansion.
The move started with the 6693 pivot, where buyers absorbed selling pressure and established the first responsive base. That defense was followed by a double-bottom at 6718 on Oct 23, confirming that the lower shelf was secure.
But the real shift came on Thursday’s reclaim of 6756.
That reclaim flipped control, shifted momentum, and opened the door for continuation.
Once 6756 was accepted, the market transitioned quickly from defense to offense. Friday’s strength through 6812 confirmed the breakout and turned prior resistance into clean structural support. Each shelf that had capped progress earlier in the month was reclaimed and defended in sequence.
By the close, ES was pressing above 6840, leaving behind a series of clearly defined shelves—6693, 6718, 6756, 6812, and 6824—that now form the foundation of this leg.
Sunday’s Globex session simply continued what structure already set in motion. Futures opened with a gap higher on US China trade talk, held it (so far), and pushed immediately toward the next extension zone near 6880–6890.
The weekend headlines helped fuel what structure already signaled. Reports that China and the United States are working toward phased trade agreements triggered an immediate risk-on reaction. The headlines are early, but tone drives flow, and tone has shifted.
The key is that the move didn’t start with news. It was validated by it. The breakout through 6812 and carry was already in play before the headlines hit.
All the macro did was add conviction to a market already leaning long.
